Run the Race 2012

Local churches serving the local community.

July 27th to August 12th 2012

Run the Race is an exciting project that brings local churches together to serve the local community during the Olympic Games in 2012.

We are now recruiting volunteers to help us this summer, so please do take some time to complete an application form and consider how you might be able to help us serve the community.

What commitment do I need to make?

We are looking for volunteers who will be able to give anything from one day to two weeks to Run The Race between July 27th 2012 and August 12th. In previous years of timebreaker most volunteers gave a week of their time. We appreicate that this is during the Olympic Period and you will want to watch the games where you can. We will be providing facilities to enable this and creating a hub of activity for everyone in the community to gather.

What will I be doing?

The format will for the most part be similar to Timebreakers in the past – with children and youth activites, along with hospitality, stewarding, site and administraion help needed. There is something for everyone to take part in.

I want to volunteer – but I have children.

If you have a young family, and still want to take part in Run The Race, you are more than welcome to enroll your children in the various programmes whilst you volunteer. We of course want to make sure there are plenty of spaces for children in the community and maintain safe ratios – so if you are volunteering with children – why don’t you try and encourage someone else to volunteer as well…? The more volunteers – the more children we can take.

CRB Checks?

It will be a requirement for all people to have a current CRB check issued by either St. James or Bucks County Council – we will also be taking up references for all volunteers. It is one of our aims to provide a safe and positive environment for everyone.

What is the programme for Run the Race at the Olympics?

Click here to see a programme of events as it currently stands to help you identify when you would like to help.

When do I need to register by?

We need early indications of the numbers of volunteers as soon as posbbile – by February we will be making decisions on what age groups we will be able to cater for, based on the number of volunteers.

Is there anything else I can help with?
