Survey Sunday: Sunday 29 April

We are hoping to move back to St James GX in the summer, which is very exciting. More details will follow in the weeks ahead. When we go back to Church the service patterns will remain (including the new 4pm service).

You may remember the old “Sweet Shop” picture from 2011 (below). This shows that our plan was always to hold the experimental service pattern once we returned to church. (This image was created before the re-ordering. So, instead of “NOW” read “BEFORE”, instead of “INTERIM” read “NOW):

Sunday, April 29th will be our annual Survey Sunday. On that day we will ask everyone in all our services to fill in a short survey so we can get some good information about our services and  ministries.

One of the key questions we will be asking you is: “Which will most likely be your main service from September?” Maybe you can give this question some thought before 29th April.

Want to catch up on the story so far? Below is a videocast with Martin Williams and Christoph Lindner, which was recorded in 2011 before the church re-ordering started. In it they take you through the “sweet shop” and explain the service development strategy for both the building phase and the time after.

Government Consultation On Marriage

Many will be aware that the Government has initiated a consultation on a proposal to change the definition of marriage. The consultation documents were published on Saturday March 17th and we at the two St James, in partnership with the Diocese, will be responding to the consultation document. We will have an opportunity to engage theologically and pastorally with the issues raised by the paper at a special event in May. Details to follow. You can access the government papers on the Home Office Website here

Diamond Jubilee – Big Lunch

We have a fantastic opportunity as a church family to take the initiative in our community by organising street parties and open house events to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. Please think about how you might bring your local community together with Christian hospitality. There is lots of useful information on the Bucks CC website. Or just read the County Council guidance on hosting a street party.

One idea for people is to link in with the Big Lunch initiative on Sunday 3rd June which is part of the overall celebrations.

The Net

The Net is the network of people in their 20′s and 30′s at St James Church. There is a lot going on to let you know about, so please subscribe to the eNewsletter using the form at the bottom of this page to ensure you are kept up to date.
