St James Reordering: We are building

Building work at St James Gerrards Cross has now started. The reordering work will make our church building fit for mission for the next decades.
During the building phase all services are taking place at the Saint James Centre behind the church.

The reordering is part of EquipSJ, our threefold mission initiative. To find out more, click here.

Here is a video simulation of the reordered church, which gives an idea of what it will look like:

Science & God – Video Online

Are science and Christian faith compatible?

Hear Professor Russell Cowburn FRS, Director of Research at Cambridge University’s Cavendish Laboratory address St James Church, recorded on 10th November 2011.

Russell is a physicist who specialises in the area of nanotechnology. As a Christian who is also a scientist, he is well placed to address this controversial area, and has debated leading atheist Lewis Wolpert in the past.

God in the Dock: All services from 23rd October

What are the biggest barriers to exploring Christian faith? This was the question we asked in a Facebook survey earlier in the year, and we will be looking at six of the big issues that came up:

Suffering – “I can’t believe in a God who lets bad things happen”

Hell – “I can’t believe in a God who sends people to hell”

Science – “Science has disproved God”

Freedom – “Belief in God is a straight jacket”

Christians – “My Christian Friends put me off Christianity”

Other Religions – “Christianity is not the only way to God”

Why not invite family and friends? Invitation cards available in the Saint James Centre

ProVision Nugget 6: Fulmer Coffee

Did you know that we have recently started a coffee and quiet morning each Thursday at St James Fulmer. Each week parents and carers from the Beehive Nursery and Fulmer Infant School are invited to take a detour to the church for fresh coffee and a chance to be still or just have a chat.
Please pray for Jacky, Francesca and the team who are offering this hospitality in Fulmer village every Thursday.

ProVision Nugget 5: Life Groups

Provision nuggetsDid you know… We host over 35 Lifegroups in homes around Gerrards Cross and Fulmer.  These weekly and fortnightly groups meet to study the Bible, to pray and to share life together in prayer and encouragement.  These groups are the best place to grow in faith and our walk with Jesus Christ.  At least 350 people each week are engaging with their Lifegroup, growing and deepening their Christian life.  The groups are all run by volunteer leaders and every group would love to welcome newcomers.

Please pray for Phil Mann and all the Lifegroup leaders as they develop and grow these groups in the coming months.

ProVision Nugget 4: Saint James Centre

Did you know…

At the Saint James Centre we produce hundreds of freshly cooked meals every month.  For Alpha and especially for our Friendship Lunches for the elderly and those who live alone.  The Centre kitchen is used by dozens of volunteers every week and its turnover is about £25,000 a year in food and ingredients.  The impact of the Friendship Lunches has been enormous.  They have drawn many elderly people into the life of the two St James and enabled us to develop Alpha for Seniors and sell out the Fiona Castle event this month.  Please pray for Helen Gladstone and her Friendship Lunch team and for Jane Hayden our Centre & Events Co-ordinator as they work with their teams to make the Saint James Centre a hub of Christ’s love and hospitality.
