PREPARING FOR YOUR MARRIAGE
‘A wedding is one day – a marriage is a lifetime’
You have probably already spent many hours planning your wedding. There are so many things to think about – the dress, the cake, whom to invite, the honeymoon. All these are important, but the wedding is just one day, while marriage should last for the rest of your lives.
Alongside the wedding preparations it is also important to spend time as a couple talking through your expectations of marriage. However much you think you have in common, you are still two seperate individuals with different backgrounds, personalities, experiences, hopes and fears.
Whether you are thinking of having a church or registry office wedding, St James offers you a Marriage Preparation Course designed for couples who want to build a strong and lasting relationship.
The course gives you an opportunity to think through possible challenges that you may encounter as a couple and how best to get through them. To support you through the course an experienced married couple from St James will be available to meet with you.
The course material is on DVD which you can watch in your own home. While based on Christian principles, it is relevant and helpful for any couple with or without a Christian faith or church background.
Topics covered include:
Keeping love alive
Two weeks prior to starting the course you will be asked to complete an on-line questionnaire called the Couple Survey. The questionnaire will help you recognise issues to discuss as a couple prior to your marriage.
