Life Groups are groups of 10-12 people who meet to do ‘life’ together.
They are places where community can develop and people can work out what it means to be a disciple of Jesus in the 21st century.
Working this out in community is what it means to be a follower of Christ. He never meant for us to do it alone. So we build communities that enable us to be known within the wider community of the two St James but also to know others and to encourage each other to grow in our faith.
The values at the heart of Life Groups are:
- Jesus at the centre
- Every member ministry
- Every member growing
- Every member witnessing
- Communities of trust and honesty marked by sacrificial love
This means that in Life Groups we:
- Intentionally build community – getting to know one another, have fun together and share our lives
- Study God’s word to allow it to transform us and apply to our everyday lives
- Worship Jesus together
- Pray together for one another and the needs of the world
- And reach out to the world around us
We currently have about 40 Life Groups that meet either weekly or fortnightly in homes around the local area. We have both daytime (some with child care) and evening groups to help you fit into a group that works for you.
We believe that Life Groups are vital in helping people find a place to belong within church and therefore to see growth in our discipleship. We long to see every member of our church in a Life Group.
To join a Life Group either speak to a friend at church and ask to join their one, as each group is open to welcoming new people, or contact Phil Mann on 01753 887118 or use the contact form.
