Prayer

Prayer is at the heart of everything we do across the Two St James’. Nothing we do here can be accomplished without praying; our work here is God’s mission, not ours, and we depend on Him for everything. We believe that God hears our prayers, and responds!

‘You will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you, you will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you.’
Jeremiah 29:12-13

  • Prayer Requests

If you would like someone from the Two Saint James to pray for you about anything at all, then please email prayer@saintjames.org.uk. Feel free to leave a name, or not, as you prefer. We believe that prayer is powerful, and that God answers our prayers!

All prayer requests will be treated in confidence ( however your information will be shared with the appropriate people if we believe there is a risk of harm to you or others); and we will not contact you before or after praying for you, unless you ask us to.

  • Living Water Events

‘Living Water’ is our termly worship and prayer event. The name was chosen as a reference to John 7:37-39: we believe that God wants to bless us by filling us with His Holy Spirit, so that we can then bless those around us.

Each ‘Living Water’ event is actually two events:

    Family Events

A family event in the early evening to enable prayer across the generations from grandparents to toddlers and an adult focused event in the eventing.

The family event takes place from 4:30 -5:30. Our KIDS team have set up interactive stations to help the whole family engage in prayer. Prayer stations can involve a fun activity, using your senses or talking together about a subject. There are clear instructions to help parent’s guide their children and the KIDS team are always on hand to help. Sorting out feeding children between activities can be a challenge so somewhere during the event there will be light refreshments, typically a sandwich and drinks.

    Evening Events

The evening event sees adults from across all our services and sites gather to worship, and to pray for our church and our community. We hear an update on what the leadership feel that God is saying to our church, and we pray accordingly. Our passion is to meet with God on those evenings, to hear what He’s saying, and to pray in accordance with His will for our church.

  • 24/7 Prayer Weeks

Twice per year, as a church, we commit to praying around the clock, 24 hours per day, for one week, in a designated ‘prayer room’ which is set up for the purpose. Prayer room slots last for one hour, and individuals or groups can book as many as they like during the week.

We regularly receive comments from our church family regarding the amazing time they’ve had in one of our 24/7 prayer rooms; it’s clear that there’s something very spiritually powerful about committing to praying continuously in this way.

To book a slot in this November’s 24/7 prayer room, click here.

  • Monday Morning Prayer Meetings

For more than 40 years, a faithful group of people have been meeting weekly to pray for the life of the Two Saint James. They currently meet on Monday mornings, from 9.30-10am in the Saint James Centre. If you would like to join this prayer meeting, then please just turn up one Monday morning; or email chris.lion@saintjames.org.uk for further details.

  • Fulmer Monthly Discussion & Prayer Meetings

On the first Tuesday of every month, a group meet in the sanctuary of Saint James, Fulmer, to discuss and pray about things that are specific to our church there. There is coffee from 9.30am, and the discussion and prayer time runs from 9.45 until 11am. If you would like to join that meeting, please email jill.roth@saintjames.org.uk, or just turn up.

  • Church Prayer Diary

Each month, the Two Saint James produces a daily prayer diary, to help our church family intercede for all that’s going on in our church, our community, and the wider world. Paper copies are available from the Saint James Centre, but if you would like to sign up to receive the Prayer Diary via email, then please click here.

If you have something that you would like to be included in the next prayer diary, then please email smsmithcsg@hotmail.com.

“So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.”

Luke 11:9
